Cinco de Mayo Raft 2011
5/7/2011 @ Swan Creek

As morning broke, the sun shone through making way for a what would be a great day. With the wind filling in from the North, Paisano glided out of Middle River headed for the first NSHSA raft up of the 2011 season. Channel 78 came alive with Champagne coming in loud and clear, followed by Xtasea, Padozary, and Sly Fox. Swan Creek was calling as we crossed the bar with a minimum of 7 ½ feet of water below us.

At Swan Creek, with the hook down the parade of boats started: Octavia, Xtasea, Windkist, Champagne, Padozary, Fortune Teller, and the pilot boat (dink) from Sly Fox.

We had such a great turn out of boats, we had to annex Worton Creek for Painkiller!

As the party began, the horse ovaries (munchies) became over whelming! The dips, chips, tacos, burritos just kept on coming. Everyone brought  something. Xtasea’s party lights and Margaritas set the stage to toast Cinco de Mayo in style.

With the sound of bugles marking the start of the 137th Kentucky Derby, the galley supported a steady flow of Mint Juleps to the cockpit as Animal Kingdom made history by a long shot.

Sunday morning, with the Swan Creek anchorage still at rest, Fortune Teller and Paisano worked their way down the creek and over the Swan Point bar turning North.

Thanks to all for a great weekend!! See you at the next raft up.
