Key West on the Chesapeake
June 21, 2014

For the Summer Solstice we had twelve boats gather in the Bodkin to celebrate the longest ‘day’ of the year.  Fortunately we had a good easterly breeze for an enjoyable sail to start the day. The raft theme – Key West on the Chesapeake – sported Conch Republic flags, shirts and hats coupled with colorful attire, pink flamingos, parrots and a tasty array of appetizers. The afternoon was pleasantly cool and the predicted rain managed to by-pass us. Featured events for the afternoon included a hotly contested and entertaining Knots and Shots competition, a Key’s trivia exam, a Best Dressed contest and of course the mainstays - Key Lime pie and Conch blowing contest. While special mementos were provided to the winners of each activity it really was a fun way to spend the afternoon and evening.  Many thanks to all the Key Lime Pie entries and to Paisano and Silent Running for the photos below.
