NSHSA Spring Meeting
March 14th, 2015

The Northern Star Hunter Sailing Assoc. held its’ Spring meeting at Cutter Marina in Essex, Md. on March 14th. The crews of Annalee, Champagne, Elsie's Phantasie, Four Winds, Kava Kava, Narsilion, Paisano, Schatzi, Silent Running, Tenacity & Windsprint ventured into the rain to come, all of whom were anxiously awaiting the start of the 2015 sailing season.

The meeting was called to order with Commodore Bill Ubelacker reviewing the current 2015 raft schedule and several new activities. The season will start with the Splash Down raft hosted by Narsilion on April 4th. The crew of Paisano will be hosting the Kentucky Derby raft on the Bodkin on May 2nd. There are already several other events scheduled, but we are always looking for more! If you are interested in hosting or assisting, please let us know. There are also a few events that we have been invited to participate in from HSA-1 this season.

This year, there are at least three cruises planned, starting with the either an overnight to Solomons or Southern Bay starting after the Memorial Day Picnic, depending on weather. Silent Running will also be organizing the annual Fall Cruise. Check the web site for further details and the full raft schedule.

The Bay's HSAs are starting to plan a Hunter Rendezvous for the summer of 2016. They have conducted a survey of what attendees would like to see and where/when to hold it. Several of you submitted your survey and the clubs are reviewing the results. Please consider volunteering to help with the organization and planning for the event. The more people that help, the less work there is for everyone. Check the Rendezvous website for more details as they develop!

An amendment to the club's by-laws was adopted by unanimous vote of those in attendance, along with proxies from Aquila, Contigo, Destiny, First Light, Fortune Teller, Hoosier Lady, Jo-Lin-Dy, Painkiller, penury's prize, Puesta del Sol, Satisfaction, Sly Fox, Theresa Marie, Windkist 4, Xtasea & Windependent. The changes allow for more flexibility in scheduling the annual end of season dinner, modification to the Portlight newsletter publishing requirements and allowing members to vote on-line via email. Thank you to all who helped to get these changes approved!

With the events on the schedule introduction of these new, and renewed activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy at NSHSA this year.

See you on the water
