Dessert First Raft
August 6, 2016
Worton Creek

The crews of Contigo, Elsie's Phantasie, Narsilion, Silent Running, Tenacity and Windkist gathered at Worton Creek to set a bad example to their children and grandkids! The rafts started to form on Friday evening and filled in on Saturday. The weather was hot and most of us wound up in the water to stay cool.

Everyone gathered on Silent Running to enjoy the desserts. We decided to run the generator and have air conditionong for the get together. Everyone seemed to appreciate that. There were four homemade desserts submitted for judging and tasting by the group. The winners were selected by votes cast by everyone attending.

After sampling the entries and having Ice Cream Sundaes, we started to hear thunder and tried to check the weather. Cell coverage in Worton is "challenged", so we called Steve Coppage for some assistance. After some deliberation, we decided to break up the rafts before the storm hit. All of the boats were able to break off and set their anchors before the rain and wind started in earnest.

During the storm, Narsilion's anchor marker duck broke free and made it's way through the anchorage. After the storm passed, Garry Johnson retreived him and negotiated the return to Tom... While there were still several claps of thinder, we had no further rain or significant wind. We did get to see a few rainbows.

On Sunday morning, we were lucky to have a great sail back to home port with a steady 13Kts out of the North.
