WARNING OF DOCUMENTATION SCAM

To All,

There is a scam going around regarding USCG documentation.  Many of you have your vessel documented.  If you should get the attached letter, please note that this is a scam.  Do not be fooled by the fact that it looks like an official document and has your correct vessel number on it.  Vessel numbers are public knowledge.  The key is the website listed www.uscgdoumentation.us.  The designation .us is a country code.  All government internet traffic is “.gov”.  If you send the $75 for something that costs $26 you are PAYING FOR A DOCUMENTATION SERVICE.  Unfortunately, none of this is illegal although it is obviously a scam.  The website is a PO box in WV where the main USCG office is located.  For more info check this website.  http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2353354#post2353354
